Calibration

[kal-ih-BRAY-shun]
Arabic: qālib (mold, form) via French: calibre — to measure against a standard
Definition
Calibration is the method of measuring the consciousness level of a person, statement, concept, or intention against the Map of Consciousness. Developed by David Hawkins through applied kinesiology, calibration uses muscle testing to determine where on the logarithmic scale (1-1,000) any subject resonates, revealing whether it operates through force (below 200) or power (above 200).
Deep Understanding
Hawkins' calibration methodology is based on the principle that human consciousness is connected to a universal field of awareness that responds to truth and falsehood with measurable physiological changes. When a statement that calibrates as true is held in mind, the body's muscles test strong. When a false statement is held, the muscles test weak. This binary response — strong/weak, true/false — can be refined through skilled questioning to identify specific numerical calibrations on the Map of Consciousness.
The methodology is controversial in mainstream science, yet Hawkins reported consistent results across more than 250,000 calibrations over three decades, with different practitioners arriving at the same calibration for the same subjects. The practical value of calibration for the Gnostic practitioner lies less in the laboratory methodology and more in the self-diagnostic application: using the emotional and somatic correlates of each calibration level as an internal compass.
The Hermetic tradition always taught that truth has a distinct energetic signature. The Emerald Tablet's instruction to "separate the subtle from the gross" is, in essence, a calibration instruction — the capacity to distinguish between what resonates with truth (power, above 200) and what resonates with deception (force, below 200). The Gnostic initiate's development of the Nous — the divine intellect — is the cultivation of an internal calibration capacity that does not require external testing.
In Practice
You carry a calibration instrument with you at all times: your body. When you encounter a statement, person, or situation, notice your body's response. Contraction (tightening of the gut, chest, or throat) signals a force-based, sub-200 resonance. Expansion (opening of the chest, deepening of breath, relaxation of the shoulders) signals a power-based, 200+ resonance. This somatic calibration becomes more accurate with practice and is the foundation of the Daily Frequency Check.
In The Architect's Words
"Your body has always known what is true. The Archontic education system spent twelve years teaching you to ignore it. Calibration is the art of listening again."
